First Lady mourns death of FCT minister’s mum

The First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan, has described late Hajia Aisha Mohammed, mother of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Sen. Bala Mohammed, as an honest and intelligent woman, who has left a good legacy for others to emulate and follow in the society.

Mrs. Jonathan, who paid a condolence visit to the minister and his family at his official residence in Life Camp, Abuja, said the deceased was a source of encouragement her advocacy for peace and unity in the country.

It would be recalled that the minister’s mother, who died last week, after a brief illness at the age of 80 years, had since been buried according to Islamic rites.

According to the first lady, she had missed “a great mother and a comforter that the late Aisha was.

“I know it is so painful when you missed a loved one, especially a mother, but death is a necessary end for everybody.

“We might not know the time; Allah is the giver and taker of life; who are we to question Him, but we can only say may she rest in peace,” the first lady said.

She therefore, urged the minister and the entire family to emulate and follow the good legacy of their late mother.

Responding on behalf of his family, the minister thanked Mr. President and the first lady, for their love, care and support to the entire family.

He said although the year had been a mixed grill with the death of his elder brother and the over 70 people killed in the Nyanya bomb by insurgents, but the city hosted successfully two events within the period.

The first lady was accompanied on the visit by the Senior Special Adviser to the President on Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), Dr. Precious Gbeneol and the former Minister of State for Women Affairs, Mrs. Becky Igwe.
