From Mustapha Adamu, Kano
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has approved the reinstatement of Barr. Muhyi Magaji Rimin-Gado as Chairman of the Public Complaints and Anti Corruption Commission, (PCACC) to complete his tenure.
Recall that Rimin-Gado was sacked from office by the the immediate past administration of Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.
Rimin-Gado was suspended in July 2021 after opening a probe on financial scandals and inflated contracts allegedly awarded to some companies linked to Ganduje’s family.
On March 1, 2022, a Federal High Court sitting in Kano dismissed an ex parte application, filed by Rimin-Gado seeking to stop an investigative panel instituted by the Kano State House of Assembly and restrain the police from investigating, arresting or intimidating him, pending the hearing and determination of subsisting court action instituted at state high court.
He was eventually arrested in 2022 at the Sokoto Governor’s Lodge in Abuja, where he went for screening as Kano governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party.
He was prosecuted before he was later granted bell.
He later won a case in court, which ordered the state government to pay him his salary arrears and other entitlements.
However, in a statement by Sanusi Bature Dawakin-Tofa, Chief Press Secretary to the governor on Wednesday, the reinstatement is with immediate effect.
