FCTA Allocates N4.5 million to Fadama Cares Programe

The Acting secretary in charge of FCT Agricultural and Rural Development Secretariat (ARDS) Mr Ishaq Abubakar Sadeeq, has disclosed that the FCT Administration has allocated the sum of N4.5million to the FCT Fadama Cares Programme with a target at providing grants to 12,283 individuals farmers in 17 wet Markets in the territory.
Sadeeq, who made this disclosure while reading his address during the capacity building training for the FCT farmers in Gwagwalada, also revealed that FCT Fadama Cares had disbursed grants to 2630 individual beneficiaries for 41 farmers community Associations across the Federal Capital Territory.
He said the capacity building training marked the attainment of yet another important milestone in the efforts of the FCT Fadama Cares programe of the secretariat and FCTA towards the development of Agriculture in the territory.
He pointed out that the Fadama Cares programme was an emergency response being supported by the World Bank to assist the farmers recover from negative effect of the COVID – 19 Pandemic.
His words: “The Agricultural and Rural Development Secretariat is aware of concerted efforts being made by the FCT Fadama Cares programe implementation team towards ensuring the successful and effective implementation of the programs”.
The ARDS Secretary said: “It is gratifying to note that this 4th batch of capacity building training of trainers workshop is to cover 1539 beneficiaries from 22 farmers and commended the Fadama III additional financing project in the FCT for its achievements for capacity building for the farmers and distribution of inputs”.
In his address at the occasion, the co-ordinator of the FCT Fadama Cares Programe, Mr. Usman Adangara said: “The FCT Fadama Cares Programe which is being implemented using the World Bank Programe for results financing model, will also leverage on the community driven development approach in financing community level programme investments”.
