Insecurity: Enough of verbal assurances -JNI tells FG, security agencies

Date:

From Muhammad Ibrahim, Kaduna

Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI) yesterday joined other Nigerians to condemn the twin bomb blasts that killed dozens in Jos, telling the government and security agencies to rise up as Nigerians have had a lot of verbal assurances with regards to curbing the tide of terrorists attacks in the country.

The Islamic body said beyond condemnation government at all levels and security agencies must rise up to take proactive measures to address the insecurity in the country.

This was contained in a statement signed by JNI Secretary-General, Dr. Khalid Abubakar Aliyu made available to newsmen in Kaduna.

“With shock, pain and bewilderment JNI received the news of the twin blasts which rocked the city of Jos, Plateau state, day before yesterday, which hitherto, the city and the whole state enjoy calm and tranquility, and gradually heading towards peace, just to be dragged back to terror and restlessness by the wicked and evil doers who hate to see peace thrives.

“JNI condemn in the strongest terms this wicked act which caused the death of innocent lives, going about their normal businesses innocently.

“Beyond condemnation, governments at all levels and all security agencies must rise to the occasion, to take proactive measures in dealing with the monster of terrorism.

“We have had a lot of verbal assurances. Something positive in curbing the tide of this terror must be on ground for the citizenry to for once have a sigh of relief.

“We commiserate with the government and the people of Plateau State and most importantly condole the families of the victims of this inhuman and savage act.
