The Concerned Northern Forum (CNF) has expressed dismay over the arrest of Aminu Yaro Dogara, Sarkin Hausawa of Lagos State by the Department of State Security ( DSS) over what they described as a “connection to the ongoing investigation of the suspended CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele”.
This was contained in a statement by the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Forum Mohammed Danlami and made available to the media in Kaduna
The Forum urged DSS to charge the case to court and not continuously detention of an individual without any legal definition, saying it is also inhumane to arrest and continue to detain such an elderly man with a couple of health challenges and keep him away from his family
They said in the alternative the Service should immediately release him unconditionally, saying Sarki Aminu Yaro is a traditional ruler, a peaceful, harmless leader not capable of hurting a fly, and a unifying factor who came in as a King and brought together the polarised Arewa community in Lagos and ended decades of rivalry, threats, and destruction of lives and properties.
The President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu coming from Lagos is well aware of these facts and will concur that Sarki Aminu Yaro has played a very crucial role in neutralizing the tense atmosphere of the Hausa community and even with other ethnic groups in Lagos.
“Ordinarily, we would have overlooked the charade and show of shame by the DSS under the leadership of a man that is desperate to keep his job. “
The Forum added that the once-respected DSS recently embarrassed the. country when it was mandated to file charges against Emefiele or release him unconditionally.
