The Benue State House of Assembly has appealed to those affected by the recent verification including  unions, groups and association not to embark on protest.

There has been outburst in the State as a result of the recent verification exercise which saw the State Government uncovered 2,500 ghost workers and saved over 1.2 billion naira.

Most affected are local governemt staff and teachers who only received thier two months salaries few days ago after the verification exercise.

Dissatisfied with the verification exercise, the Nigeria Union of Teachers, NUT had threatened to embark on strike if the State government failed to reverse the removal of allowances due to its members.

Constituting an Adhoc Committee for the Verification of Staff/Civil Servants’ Salaries and Wage Bill, the House begged the unions to allow the Assembly to carry out its fact-finding mission of resolving the problem.

The committee has Hon. Esther Tiseer- Chairman,  Hon. Matthew Damkor- member, Hon. Gyila Solomon- member, Hon. Manger Manger -membe, Hon.  Yanmar Ortese- member, Hon. Micheal Audu- member,Hon. Kennedy Angbo- member,Hon. Blessed Onah- member, Hon. Bemdoo Ipusu- member and Hon Abraham Z. Jabi- member.

Sinilarly, the committee has called on the following  Committees set up by the executive  Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia to appear before it unfailingly on 26th July 2023 at the Benue State House of Assembly complex  to explain the general outcry caused by their recent activities.

They include, Governors Committee on Staff and Salary Verification,SUBEB/TSB, NUT, NULGE, the Auditor General of State,and Local Government.
