2014 Poll: Police urge Osun politicians to be peaceful

Mr Ibrahim Maishanu, the Commissioner of Police in Osun, has warned governorship candidates as well as their supporters against any breach of peace.

Maishanu gave the warning at a meeting with representatives of all the political parties and security chiefs in Osogbo.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has scheduled the state governorship election for Aug. 9.

Maishanu advised the politicians against any acts capable of undermining the Electoral Acts.

He said that all the security chiefs had agreed to abide by the rules and regulations on security issues before, during and after the election.

The police chief assured politicians that the security agencies would do everything possible to maintain law and order.

Maishanu urged politicians to avoid all forms of violence such as killing, maiming, arson to ensure peaceful election. (NAN)
