Jigawa First Lady urges parents to help curb VVF, sickle cell

The wife of Jigawa state governor, Hajiya Hadiza Umar Namadi has called on parents to adopt measures against the occurrence of sickle cell and VVF diseases in the state.
The call was made when she visited units of sickle cell and VVF patients at Rasheed Shikoni Teaching Hospital Dutse and Jahun general hospital.
She explained that, the visit is part of effort to support sickle cell and VVF patients as well as to create awareness to all relevant stakeholders on how to adopt some measures to reduce the incidents of the diseases.
Hajiya Hadiza who said, the visit was to also mark the month of sickle cell and VVF diseases, urged couples to imbibe habit of genotype test before marriage to reduce risk of given birth to sickle cell patients.
The governor’s wife also advised parents to reduce culture of early marriage on their children to avoid risk of VVF diseases.
