Reps probe alleged victimization, maltreatment of Nigerians in Addis Ababa

The House of Representatives has launched an investigation in the alleged victimization and maltreatment of Nigerians in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
To this end the house mandated to summon the Committees on Diaspora, Foreign Affairs, and human rights Minister of Foreign Affairs the Chairman of the Nigerian Diaspora Commission and The Executive Secretary of Human rights commission to brief the house on the preventive measures taken to protect Nigerians and Air travelers to Asia Ababa.
This resolutions was sequel to a motion moved by the minority leader, and a member from Rivers State. Hon. Kingsley Chinda
Presenting the motion, The Lawmaker noted the alleged incidence of victimization came to light when Dr. Paul Ezike circulated a distress message on behalf of a Nigerian who claimed to have been arrested and imprisoned in Ethiopia.
The Lawmaker further stated that that numerous Nigerians, including air travelers, have faced arbitrary arrests upon arrival at the Ethiopian airport in Addis Ababa.
“these individuals are then allegedly taken to hospitals where they are forcibly injected with unknown substances before being sent to prison facilities, including the Chaota Maximum Security prison.
These Nigerians are said to be enduring inadequate treatment, including poor feeding and lack of access to necessary medical care.
