FG committed to promoting science park for sustainable development — Innovation Minister

The Minister of Innovation, Science and technology, Chief Uche Nnaji said Federal government is committed to promoting and establishing conference for science park and science museum project for Abuja -Nigeria for Nigeria’s sustainable development.
Speaking at the kick -off event yesterday in Abuja,the minister said the Ministry has advocated for establishing Science and Technology Parks since 2006
Uche,who was represented by his technical adviser on strategy and programs,Prof. Nnanyelugo Ike-Muonso said plans evolved to focus on a Model Park at SHESTCO, Abuja, with collaborations including institutions like the World Technopolis Association and UNESCO.
“I urge all our partners, especially Across Atlantic Development, UK, to ensure the diligent execution of our mutual commitments.We are proud of our partnerships with organizations and universities like PRODA and the University of Nigeria Nsuka.
He said “Considering resource constraints, we’re leveraging private sector expertise and funds for our projects through Public Private Partnership (PPP).
Thepartnership with Across Atlantic Development, UK, is promising, marking a significant step with the signing a Memorandum of Understanding in May
2022.

“Our administration is steadfast in championing innovative technologies to bolster Nigeria’s self-sufficiency and economic strength. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s economic revival plan, hinging on an eight- point renewed hope agenda, underscores the significance of STI. Science and Technology Parks are instrumental in achieving these national objectives.”

Uche , further stated that Science and Technology Parks have been transformative, enhancing industrial competitiveness. As hubs of R&D and innovation, universities play a pivotal role in these parks. They nurture talent and foster technological startups, highlighting the importance of human capital in futureorganizations.
