The Good Governance Initiative, (GGI) group, has welcomed the reports from the North-East, indicating military’s victory over insurgents in the region.
Peoples Daily recalls that the Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Zulum, recently hinted there is no community in the state that is still under the control of Boko Haram insurgents.
He added that the security situation has improved by over 85 percent.
Also, the Senator representing Borno South Senatorial District, Ali Ndume said the issue of Boko Haram has come and gone.
Another report issued recently from the region confirmed a gradual restoration of peace in the popular Dikwa Night Market and the entire town sacked in 2014 and 2016 by Boko Haram insurgents.
While appreciating the report, the group in a statement on Wednesday by its President, Adeniyi Osho said the confirmation of victory over terrorists is a testimony that the sacrifices of the Armed Forces of Nigeria is not in vain.
It said the good news from the region demonstrated the dedication of officers and men of the Nigerian Military under the leadership of Gen. C.G. Musa.
The group expressed joy on the gradual restoration of peace in the popular Dikwa Night Market and the entire North-East and expressed confidence that with ongoing military operations, the people of the region will soon express total peace.
GGI further urged the Nigerian media to spread messages of hope, while building the confidence of troops engaged in operations across the country.
“At this time, patriotism is needed to make the victory of our troops over the insurgents total.”
