Appeal Court orders bye-election at 8 poling Unit in Jigawa

The appeal court sitting in Abuja has affirmed the ruling of the tribunal court, that declared the 2023 election in Birninkudu/ Buji federal constituency of Jigawa state inconclusive.
Delivering the judgment the chairman of the appeal court Justice Ogochuku Anthony Ogakwu ordered Independent Electoral Commission (INEC)to conduct bye election at eight polling units within 30 days.
The court give the verdict on appeal filed before the court by Hon Adamu Yakubu a People Democratic Party (PDP) candidate who was declared winner of the election by INEC.
Hon Adamu Yakubu filed a case before the Appeal Court challenging the rulling of Election Tribunal sitting in Dutse, Jigawa State that declared the result of the 2023 election of Birnin Kudu/Buji Federal Constituency as inconclusive.
The earlier petition was filed before the Tribunal by Hon Magaji Dau Aliyu of APC challenged the victory of Hon Adamu Yakubu of PDP who was declared winner by Independent Electoral Commission I(NEC).
In it’s earlier judgement, the tribunal under the chairmanship of Justice A. A. Okeke said, INEC did not comply with the provisions of the Electoral Act 2022, INEC regulations and guidelines, and the manual for Election officials for the 2023 election in conducting the election and declaring the result some polling units.
