Labour Union locks NASS gates

The Nigerian Labour Congress ,NLC yesterday barricade the National Assembly entrances and locked out staff and other visitors, as part of move to enforce the nationwide indefinite strike action which began on Tuesday .

The NLC and TUC had directed all workers to commence a nationwide strike effective Tuesday, November 14, 2023, in protest against the assault and brutalisation on comrade Joe Ajaero, President of NLC during a rally in Owerri, Imo State two weeks ago.

Members of the unions besieged the National Assembly premises as early ad 11:45am and prevented staff and visitors going into or coming out of offices within the Assembly complex from carrying out their official duties so as of 11:45am.

However, lawmakers who had earlier on made it into both chambers were going ahead with their parliamentary duties as at the time of filing this report.
