NGO trains 175 adolescents on skills acquisition in Adamawa

A total of 175 adolescents have been trained in various skills acquisition techniques by an International Non Governmental Organization,Save the children International,in Adamawa state.
Team leader of the organization (Save the children International), Alhaji Abdulrasheed Mohammed made the disclosure at the graduation and presentation of start-up kits to the beneficiaries in Yola, Wednesday, appreciating the state government for providing enabling environment for them to impact on the state.
Mohammed announced that the six months intensive training was conducted in conjunction with the National Directorate of Employment with a sole aim of creating self reliance in entrepreneurship.
Mohammed said that his organization’s areas of intervention are education, health and nutrition, respectively.
He explained that the 175 beneficiaries were accorded skills on various trades including ; tailoring, catering, fashion design, carpentry, barbing and metal fabrication noting that the starter packs provided were for the beneficiaries to kick start their own businesses for the development of their communities.
Earlier in his address at the ceremony, Commissioner of Education, Dr. Umar Pella, said the intervention was in line with the Go vernor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri’s administration commitment to providing skills to unemployed youths to improve their livelihood.
