Kano state Governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has signed into law, the state Private and Voluntary Institutions Board Bill.
A statement signed by the governors’ Director of Press and Public Relations, Halilu Ibrahim Dantiye, stated that shortly after signing the bill at the Council Chamber of the state Government House, the governor said the law would regulate the activities of private and voluntary schools to suit the educational needs of the state.
The governor said the law would check the rampant increase of school fees and ensure that the institutions are imparting quality education to students, the statement said.
The governor emphasized that education is the foundation of development of any nation, stressing that his government would not allow unpatriotic people to disrupt it plans to provide sound education to it citizens.
“That is why we made laws that prohibit begging and child labour in the state so as to ensure children attend school, as education is free at all levels in the state,” said Kwankwaso.
Meanwhile, the State Universal Basic Education (SUBEB) and Tozali Magazine have presented awards to the governor for promoting primary and girl-child education in the state.
Receiving the award, Governor Kwankwaso said so far, the state has provided two sets of uniforms to about three million fresh pupils apart from five days feeding in all public primary schools.
