The Yobe State Governor, Hon. Mai Mala Buni on Monday engaged a stakeholders meeting with health agencies, partners on health issues and traditional rulers, to assess services delivery in various public’s health institutions in the state.
Governor said that the meeting is to carefully assess and improve on the good records the state have attained in Primary Health Care Services, “the Primary Health Care service as we all know, is the entry point and foundation to general healthcare service which must be given the desired attention.”
He also said that, it’s in realization of fact that, his administration decided to establish at least one functional Primary Healthcare facility in the 178 political wards across the state. Adding that, “by now, we have completed and commissioned 139 out of the proposed 178, providing quality, accessible, and affordable healthcare services to our people.”
Buni appreciates the support and efforts of Traditional rulers for especially the continuous sensitization of the public to access and own the Primary Healthcare Centres.
Also Gov. Buni said, “Mention must be made of the support we have enjoyed from the Bill And Melinda Gates Foundation, The Aliko Dangote Foundation, the World Health Organization (WHO), UNICEF, and AFENET among others.”
“Yobe State government entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Aliko Dangote Foundation, and UNICEF in August 2021 to further strengthen integrated Primary Healthcare services in our dear state.
“I assure you that we remain committed to the MoU, and we will continue to do our very best to ensure sustained support for the improvement of Primary Healthcare services in the state.”
