2024 fiscal year: Alia presents maiden budget of N225.7bn to Benue Assembly

Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia has proposed a budget of 225.7 billion Naira for the 2024 fiscal year.
Governor Alia while presenting the 2024 budget tagged ‘budget of infrastructure, development, job creation and poverty alleviation’ to the State House of Assembly on Friday, said the budget recorded 25 percent increase over the 2023 budget.
He noted that the fiscal document is in line with his blue print ‘Benue Strategic Development Plan’ which when implemented, will lead to a prosperous Benue.
Our correspondent reports that the budget has a proposed
capital expenditure of 115 billion representing 61.6 percent and a capital expenditure of 110 billion while personnel cost is put at 54.6 billion representing 17.1 percent and non personnel cost or overhead cost is pegged at 54.8billion which represents 10.3 percent.
According to the Governor, the Benue people are desirous of accelerated growth which they must give to them.
He added that there will be improved infrastructural development with emphasis on road construction, digitalized economy, massive youth employment, improved agricultural growth, sports development, and increased funding for all tertiary institutions as well as improvement in health care service delivery in the state.
