Printer, 32, docked for stabbing man in the neck

For allegedly stabbing a man in the neck, a 32-year-old printer, Deji Afolabi, was on Monday charged before a Tinubu Magistrates’ Court, Lagos.

Afolabi, who lives at No. 70, Adeniji Adele St., Lagos Island, is being tried for causing grievous harm.

The prosecutor, Cpl. Francesca Okere, said the offence was committed on May 30 at about 9.45 p.m. at Campus Square on Lagos Island.

She alleged that Afolabi, believed to be a member of a notorious gang, had accosted the complainant, Saheed Ganiyu, on his way home.

“Afolabi took a sharp stone and stabbed Ganiyu when he pleaded with the gang to stop terrorising people in the neighbourhood.”

Okere said the offence contravened Section 404 (2) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

The accused denied the charge.

Ruling on the bail application of the accused, the Magistrate, Mrs. Tokunbo Omoyele, granted him bail in the sum of N50, 000 with two sureties in like sum.

She adjourned the case till June 30 for trial. (NAN)
