FG urged to address failing standards of education — Don

The Provost of Federal College of Education Yola, Dr. Mohammed Usman Degereji has appealed to federal government to provide more workable strategies to addressing failing standard of education in the country.
Dr. Degereji made the appeal in Yola Monday during the college’s internal stakeholders meeting to proffer solutions on challenges facing the college.
“We conveyed this internal staff dialogue for the management to interface with the senior staff in the college to find solutions to the problems or challenges we have in the college.
“Usually if you interact with the staff, you will have ideas that would help you manage the college effectively”, Degereji advanced.
Degereji urged the federal government to ensure out of school children challenge is tackled head on.
“The federal government should reconsider redirecting more finances to the sector as 350,000 teachers are needed annually for the basic schools in the country.
He also advised that the government need to prioritize in engagement of the youths depending on the level of their educational background reiterating that they can be use in provision of technical services.
He suggested that the youth should be trained massively in all fields with a view to changing the present narrative of consumption to production level.
