Brace up to challenges of road infrastructure – Umahi charges new FERMA governing board

The Minister of Works, David Umahi, has charged the newly inaugurated Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA), to brace up to the challenges of road infrastructure in the country .
Umahi urged the board members to be patriotic and committed to their duties, emphasizing the importance of their role in shaping FERMA.
He gave this charge while inaugurating the sixth governing board of the Agency in Abuja.
The Minister also congratulating the appointed Board Members on their selection by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
He saield: “ Your appointments in the Board is for the advancement of FERMA’s mandate in line with the federal government’s renewed hope agenda for road infrastructure.
He said this administration
is commitment to addressing road challenges.
“President Tinubu’s has approved the supplementary budget for 236 road projects, marked for palliative intervention and the award letters will be given to the contractors soonest to proceed to the site”.
While assuring the public of a transformative shift in road conditions over the next two years, Umahi said: “Mr. President has directed the Ministry in conjunction with the Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF) to review the activities of the Agency”.
Responding, The Managing Director/CEO FERMA, Engr. Chukwuemeka Agbasi, expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Minister of Works Sen. David Umahi for finding them worthy of the appointment.
He added that, “We pledge to discharge our responsibility with the fear of God and align with the policy of the Federal Ministry of Works and also FERMA’s mandate”.
