Relief as FCTA moves to bolster FCT College of Nursing with more faculty, facilities

In order to widen access to admission into the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) FCT College of Nursing Sciences, Gwagwalada, the FCT Administration has revealed advanced plans to establish new faculty and provide additional lecture facilities in the institution.
This, the FCTA said it’s expected to expand the academic horizons of the college to meet its roles of producing quality manpower to upscale efficiency of healthcare delivery in breadth and width of the Territory.
Badaru Yakasai, of the information unit of the Secretariat in a statement, stated that the FCT Secretary of Health Services and Environment Secretariat, Dr. Adedolapo Fasawe, dropped the hint, at the second matriculation ceremony of the College.
Fasawe said: “The authority is very aware of the need to have additional faculty and lecture facility and the FCT Administration is working towards achieving these concerns.”
She also assured that the FCT Administration will continue to provide all that is needed to take the two schools to greater heights in tune with the renewed-hope agenda of the current administration through the provision of additional structures and man-power in schools.
She added that the College will enjoy continued support from the FCT Administration under the leadership of the FCT Minister, Chief Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, and pledged the sum of N500,000 for the best graduating student.
Ealier, in her welcome remarks, the Director, Nursing Services at Secretariat, Mrs. Leo Grace Musa, disclosed that the College was upgraded to FCT College of Nursing Sciences, Gwagwalada, by the National Board for Technical Education and the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria to commence OND/HND Nursing programme.
Musa added that the college was also given interim accreditation with an admission slot of 120 students per year.
She said the college has also conducted the first Post UTME screening examination for the first set applicants.
On her part, the Principal of the college, Mrs. Demorah Yusuf, enjoined the new students to conduct themselves with integrity, respect, and professionalism.
She added that the news students should also be punctual in attending all their classes and completing all clinical postings.
A total of 98 students were matriculated into the college’s basic nursing programme, during the event, which held at its Campus, in Gwagwalada.
