Akume, an exceptional pillar of governance – Ex-Senate President Lawan

President of the Ninth Senate, Senator Ahmad Lawan, says the illustrious and selfless political career of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Sen. George Akume, marks him out as an exceptional pillar of governance in Nigeria.
Lawan, in a birthday message to Akume, on Tuesday, extols the latter for his remarkable contributions to the development and growth of the nation.
The former Senate President lauds Akume for his commitment in supporting President Bola Tinubu’s administration by ensuring effective policy implementation, efficient service delivery, and a collaborative approach to governance.
He recalls that the SGF, as a one-time Minority Leader of the Senate from 2011 to 2015; and Senator representing Benue North-West between 2007 and 2019, contributed significantly to legislative reforms and actively championed the aspirations of his constituents.
Lawan’s birthday message reads, “It is with great joy and admiration that I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, His Excellency, Sen. George Akume, CON, a distinguished leader and dedicated public servant. Your contributions to the growth and development of our nation are truly remarkable.
“Throughout your illustrious career, you have exemplified the ideals of good governance and selfless service. Your unwavering commitment to the progress of our country is evident in your accomplishments as a seasoned administrator, a visionary politician, and a passionate advocate for the welfare of all Nigerians.
“Your astute leadership as the Secretary to the Government of the Federation has been pivotal in coordinating and harmonizing the activities of various government agencies and stakeholders. Your administrative acumen has ensured effective policy implementation, efficient service delivery, and a collaborative approach to governance.
“As Senate Minority Leader (2011 – 2015) and distinguished Senator representing Benue North-West (2007 – 2019), you championed the aspirations of your constituents and contributed significantly to legislative reforms in the Senate that have positively impacted the lives of many. As Governor of Benue State from 1999 – 2007, your dedication to the development of the state was visible in your commitment to quality education, and your unwavering efforts to promote peace and reconciliation. Overtime, these have left an indelible mark on the state and the nation as a whole.
