Association of Professional Women Engineers of Nigeria (APWEN) has congratulated the Nigerian Society of Engineers on the historic victory of Mrs Margaret Aina Oguntala as the first female President in its 65-year history.
The incumbent president, Engr. Tasiu Sa’ad Gidari-Wudil handed over to the new leadership and first female president of the NSE headed by Engineer Mrs Margaret Aina Oguntala
The occasion which served as an inspirational milestone for women engineers in Nigeria and represents a significant step towards gender equality within the engineering profession.
According to the out going president, the appointment of Engr. Margaret Oguntala symbolizes the growing recognition of the invaluable contributions made by female engineers to the advancement of our society.
He stressed that this has sent a signal that gender should never limit opportunities for anyone, irrespective of their field of expertise hence women engineers have consistently proven their capabilities and prowess in the engineering industry.
