Chief imam, Okada rider killed in fresh attack in Plateau

Date:

A chief imam, Sani Idris and an Okada rider, Muhammad Gambo, were allegedly killed in a fresh attack in Bakkos Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The unfortunate incident comes barely a week after over 150 people were killed in a series of attacks across 23 communities in the same LGA.

On Wednesday, Garba Abdullahi, the chairman of the Gan Allah Fulani Development Association, GAFDAN, confirmed the attack.

He said the slain cleric was the Jumma’at Mosque’s Chief Imam in Ndun village, Tangur District, Bokkos Local Government Area.

Narrating how the incident occurred, the GAFDAN chairman said: “The chief imam and his younger brother were attacked on Monday after arriving at the community to collect some of their belongings left from the recent attacks where houses of our members were burned down.

“So, they went there to see if they could pick up some of their property, but they were suddenly attacked. The hoodlums killed the imam while his younger brother survived machete wounds.”

DAILY POST recalls that on Christmas Eve, gunmen attacked Bakkos LGA in Plateau, killing hundreds of villagers.

The incident attracted outrage from Nigerians over government’s inability to protect the lives of citizens.

The reoccurrence of the attacks comes despite the Nigeria Police Force’s commencement of a special operation.(Daily Post)
