PDP Governors commiserate with Seyi Makinde over Ibadan explosion

*Urges security, regulatory agencies to prevent reoccurrence

The Peoples Democratic Party Governors’ Forum (PDP-GF), has consoled with the Governor of Oyo State, Engr Oluseyi Makinde and the people of the State over the loss of lives and properties resulting from the explosion that rocked Ibadan, the State capital on Tuesday

The PDP-GF has consequently urged the security agencies and regulatory authorities in charge of mining and explosives to step up action to ensure that such incident does not reoccur.

The PDP elected Governors said this in a statement Friday by its Director-General, Hon CID Maduabum in Abuja.

The Forum expressed sadness at the “this painful loss”, impacting not only the Government and the people of Oyo State but also the entire country.

The PDP-GF commended Gov. Makinde’s swift response to the incident and expressed confidence that he will deliver on his promise to bring justice to victims by ensuring that all parties indicted in the investigation into the matter are brought to book.

The statement by Maduabum reads, “The Peoples Democratic Party Governors’ Forum (PDP-GF), under the Chairmanship of H.E. Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed (CON), the Governor of Bauchi State, extends heartfelt sympathy on behalf of all member-Governors to our dear colleague, H.E. Gov. Oluseyi Makinde and the good people of Oyo State for the regrettable loss of lives and properties resulting from the explosion that rocked Ibadan late Tuesday, January 16, 2024.

“The Forum is saddened by this painful loss, impacting not only the Government and the people of Oyo State but also the entire country.

“Our heartfelt condolences go to the families of victims who lost their beloved ones, and we pray that all who sustained various levels of injuries would have a speedy recovery.

“We commend Gov. Makinde’s swift response to the incident and are confident that he will deliver on his promise to bring justice to victims by ensuring that all parties indicted in the investigation into the matter are brought to book.

“To this end, we urge the security agencies and regulatory authorities in charge of mining and explosives to step up action to ensure that this type of incident does not reoccur.

“Governor Makinde’s actions so far, especially in ensuring that those in need of medical attention receive it at no cost, demonstrate the Governor’s love and resolute interest in the welfare and well-being of the entire people of Oyo State.
