Insecurity: NURTW seeks ban of illegal Parks in Lafia metropolis

The Nasarawa State chapter of NURTW has called on the state government to ban illegal motor parks existing in Lafia metropolis, the State capital in order to curtail criminal activities .
Chairman of the NURTW in the state, Alhaji Muhmmadu Maikwariya made the call on Friday while briefing Journalists on the Danger of illegal Motor parks springing in Lafia.
Maikwariya despite the fact that a centralize Modern Yahaya Sabo Bus Terminal in Bukan sidi was built by the state government with the sole aim of generating revenue as well as decongest the metropoli but wonder why some pockets of motor parks are existing in the state capital city which is constituting criminal activities.
He said: “I am calling on the state government through the Nasarawa Urban Development Board NUDB to exercise its mandate by banning the existence of the former
Nasarawa on the Move Garage opposite the Police “A” Division as well as the roadside parks in Lafia city.
“We, NURTW officials sat during our meeting and agree that all branches of motor parks should move to the Central modern park as directed by the state government yet we wonder how that of the former “Nasarawa on Move” and some road side parks are operating.”
He added that the Union is working assiduously to put an end to the picking of passengers along the roadside parks which he said often results to kidnapping and robbing of innocent people sometimes on the High–way.
He commended the administration of Governor Abdullahi Sule for the construction of the International motor park in Karu LGC and the Yahaya Sabo modern Bus terminal in the state capital where a lot of people gained employment.
He also appealed to the citizens of the state to give governor the desire support after winning from the Supreme Court, in order to enable him continue with his good mission by providing the dividends of democracy to the people of the state.
