Police arrest 8 armed robbery suspects

The operatives of Kaduna Police Command from Tollgate Divisional Headquarters while on patrol along the Kaduna – Abuja expressway, have arrested seven highway armed robbery suspects as they were allegedly gearing up to operate.
This was contained in a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) ASP Mansir Hassan and made available to the media in Kaduna.
The statement disclosed that the patrol team at about 1100 hours sighted and intercepted a suspicious blue 1990 model Honda Accord, registration number ARD 507 AA with seven passengers who were met changing their clothing to seemingly operational ones.
It added that when accosted they could not offer a plausible explanation thus, they were moved to the Divisional Headquarters.
“ In the course of the investigation, a locally fabricated pistol with three live 20 gauge shotgun cartridges were recovered from the suspects.
“The seven suspects are; Sheriff Abubakar 34 years, Hassan Adam 33 years (3) Nura Mustafa years, Abdullahi Mohammed 22 years Umar Mohammed 35 years, Umar Mohammed years, and Isa Usman 20 years.
“The eighth person of the syndicate Yusuf Danmakurdi was arrested by the Divisional Police Headquarters Tafa.
“The syndicate often ply the Kaduna – Abuja highway robbing motorists, especially broken down articulated vehicles carrying goods such as benne seeds, rice, beans, electronics, and even fuel tanks.
“ They usually move with an extra vehicle, a van or bus, which they use in packing the aforementioned goods. In the case of a loaded fuel tank, they will restrain the driver and his partner in the bush and will go away with the tanker, sell the petroleum product and abandon the vehicle.
“Meanwhile, the suspects are cooperating with the Police in the investigation, which in the end, they will have their days in court.
“The Commissioner of Police Kaduna State Command, CP A.D Ali, psc commends the Operatives for the arrest and tasked all Officers to continue to overwhelm criminal elements wherever they may be in the state”, the statement stated.
