APC appoints Ex- sports Minister, Adedoja head of Edo guber screening committee

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has appointed a former Minister of Sports Development, Prof. Taoheed Adedoja, as the chairman of its screening committee, ahead of the Feb. 17 Edo Governorship primaries.
National Organizing Secretary of the party, Alh. Suleiman Argungu while inaugurating the committee on Thursday charged the committee to ensure a level playing ground for all the aspirants.
Argungu also inaugurated the Screening Appeal Committee charged the five man committee headed by Sen. Ibrahim Danbaba while Smart Iheazor would serve as its secretary.
The National Organizing Secretary further advised members of the two committees to be above board in the discharge of their responsibilities, adding that all eyes are on the party to ensure that they did the right thing.
Members of the screening committee included Sen. Ibrahim Oloriegbe, Adeoye Adelakum, Mr Darlington Dick, Mr Lawal Abdullahi, Ms Margaret Duru, and Mr Sani Danjuma who would serve as the secretary.
Similarly, members of the Screening Appeal Committee were Bisi Odewumi, Ngozi Ononiwu and Abu Sidiq.
It could be recalled that at the close of submission of Expression of Interest and Nomination forms on Wednesday, 12 aspirants purchased and returned their duly completed forms.
The aspirants included: Clem Agba, Monday Okpebholo, Lucky Imasuen, Anamero Dekeri, Osagie Ize-Iyamu, Gideon Ikhine, retired Col. David Imuse and retired Gen. Charles Airhiavbere.
Others are: Prof. Oserheimen Osunbor, Dr. Blessing Agbomhere, Dennis Idahosa and Ernest Afolabi Umakhihe.
According to the schedule of activities and timetables for the 2024 Edo governorship election released by the party, the screening of aspirants was billed to commence after the inauguration and will run until Friday, Feb. 9.
The delegates’ congress had been fixed for Saturday Feb. 10, while the primaries will be held on Saturday, Feb.17.
The Edo state governorship election will hold September 21, 2024.
