Economic hardship: APC youths laments hunger, insecurity in Northwest

As the economy bites harder across the country, the All Progressives Congress (APC) Northwest Youth group has expressed worry over increasing hunger and insecurity in the region.
Their concern was coming at the time voices of reasoning were calling on President Bola Tinubu and his economic team to act fast before the current hardship faced by the vast majority of Nigerians get out of hand.
To this group, the opposition parties and their supporters are collaborating on the economic policies of the current administration, leading to the hardship Nigerians are facing as they strive to feed daily.
Reading the text of a communique issued after a one-day annual meeting in Kaduna, the leader of the group, Abdul Hamid Umar Mohammed, however, emphasised their commitment to support the government and hold it accountable when necessary.
According to him, Mr President and the APC should revisit their approach to engaging the youth in Northwest, “Mr President and our great party, APC, need to return to the drawing board and involve youths massively as seen during the 2023 general elections that retained the party in power.
“We can’t let our voting strength go in vain. We are equal to the task and we have competent persons among us that can help Mr. President and our great party out of the current economic quagmire.
“Every elected public office holder from state to federal level, came into power as a result of our approximately 45 percent contribution.
“We are therefore calling on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the APC leadership to revisit their approach to engaging the youth.
“They need to return to the drawing board and recognise the contributions of the young people who played a pivotal role in bringing the government to power.
“The message is clear, economic challenges may persist, but the youth firmly believe that Tinubu will navigate the nation through these turbulent times, especially with massive involvement of young persons,” he added.
