The remains of 76-year-old, Deaconess Florence Aishatu Adi, mother of the immediate past Secretary of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, (NUJ) Kaduna State Council, Comrade John Femi Adi, has been laid to rest on Friday in Kaduna state.
The funeral which attracted dozens of sympathizers from different walks of life, who attested that the late Mrs. Aishatu while she was alive was a very good woman.
Speaking at the thanksgiving service, at the Apostolic Church, Barnawa Assembly, shortly after the burial, Femi appreciated the outpouring of love and support from the church friends, relatives, and colleagues, describing them as true pillars of hope and more.
Femi, who is a seasoned Journalist cried out to the church, friends and relatives to be a wife to his 80-year-old Father, Pa Emmanuel Kayode Adi, while noting that the late mum, Aishatu left a vacuum that only God can fill.
According to him: “As a family, we would like to extend our deepest gratitude to all those who have reached out and offered their condolences, thoughts, and prayers during this time of immense sadness. Your love and support have been a source of strength, and they are forever.
“To us, it’s a celebration because our mother lived a good life. She was a mother not just to her biological children but to everyone around her.
“My prayer to the church is that my Father needs a wife. We his children need a mother and I hope that you will stand for us. My mother took Christianity to another level. She took it as the Faith in the Bible. I have never seen a woman who believed that whatever you do, God will stand for you. That was who my mum was.
“My Father is 80 years old. Meanwhile, with the remaining years he has here on earth, I urged the entire church to please be a wife to him
“Throughout this trying time, I can tell you that we owe nobody even one Naira or any kind of debt because you supported us. You have been a pillar to us and that has encouraged us. Thank you very much for standing by us and may God bless you all.”
Earlier, while delivering a burial sermon at the Barnawa Cemetery, Pastor David Williams Hezekiah of The Apostolic Church, Kaduna Assembly, urged sympathisers to live their lives with eternity in view, even as he noted that human beings are nothing but pilgrims here on the earth.
Reading from the book of the Psalms, Pastor Hezekiah reiterated that everyone today is a year closer to their God and as such life must be lived intentionally and with a deliberate effort to make life count both in time and eternity.
He added that one day, the end will come for every human being who will meet with God face to face and give an account of how they lived their lives while on earth.
