Review Oronsaye report before implementation — Reps tell Tinubu

Date:

By Christiana Ekpa

The House of Representatives has asked President Bola Tinubu to properly review the Oronsaye Report before implementing it.
The call was the outcome of a motion of urgent public importance moved by Kama Nkemkanma and two others on Thursday during plenary.
It would be recalled that Tinubu ordered the implementation of the report on Monday.
The House asked Tinubu to order a comprehensive review of the 2012 Oronsanye Report, the Goni Aji Report which reviewed the Orosanye Report, the White Paper released by the President Goodluck Jonathan administration, the Ama Pepple White Paper, and the Ebele Okeke White Paper in line with current realities.
Moving the motion, Nkemkanma said the full implementation of the 2012 Oronsaye report in 2024 will certainly throw up unintended consequences, implications and outcomes.
He added that “the full implementation of the report will not substantially reduce the cost of governance as it does not reflect the current situation in the Public Service of the Federation.”
The motion was adopted without debate and passed.
