FG to establish skills, vocational hub at Polytechnics

The Federal Government has revealed that plans are underway for establishment of 24 skills and vocational hubs in polytechnics across the country.
The Minister of Education, Prof. Tahir Mamman, disclosed this at the 38th convocation of Bayero University Kano, BUK in Kano on Saturday.
Mr Mamman, who represented President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the convocation ceremony, also said the federal government would also establish entrepreneurship centres in the universities across the country.
“We are also reviving 970 Tsangaya centres for integrated learning and development of Almajiri education system in the country.
“We are also building 91 vocational schools in the secondary schools across the country to ensure that all levels of education enjoying the impact of our policy,” he said.
According to him, the present administration will continue to support education because of its strong believe that “our survival can only be assured by the quality of our human capital development. This is why we made education top priority of our administration.
“Why supporting all aspects of education, this administration will focus on skill, technology and vocational education as core drivers of educational system that will prepare graduants for employment and employer of labour,” he added.
The Minister hinted that the government is set to inaugurate Private Sector Innovation Enterprise Centre across the country to deliver on the skill acquisition program of the government.
“Our universities are centres of learning need to upscale and adjust to the modern day world by repositioning themselves as citadel of education that will bring about development.
“As a government, we are also determined to continue support the upgrade of infrastructure and, research equipment in our universities which the need assessment of Nigerians.
“As part of administration commitment to strengthening and reinvigorated for the fulfilment of their mandate,” he said.
