The University of Lagos will host the annual summit on Poverty Reduction organized by Leadtimes Africa Magazine in collaboration with Highstone Global University, Texas, USA, this weekend.

 

The summit, themed “Promoting Good Governance Through Capacity Building and Entrepreneurship-antidote to Sustainable Peace and Poverty Reduction in Africa”, will feature keynote speakers, panel discussions, and award presentations.

 

According to the press release credited to the Advisory Board Chairman of Leadtimes Africa Magazine, Professor Buba S. Mshelia, “few outstanding Nigerian professionals and businessmen are expected to be decorated with honor at the ceremony; those to be honored are men and women of integrity with track-records; selection was very competitive and the indices used was strictly on merit.”

 

Among the honorees are Chief Mike A. A. Ozekhome, a renowned constitutional lawyer, human rights activist, pro-democracy crusader and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, and his wife, Lady Chief Barr. Mrs Josephine Mike Ozekhome, who will receive the professorial chair and honorary doctorate degree in International Law and Diplomacy respectively from Highstone Global University.

Professor Maurice Azubuike, president of Highstone Global University, said in a press statement that “Chief Mike Ozekhome will be decorated with honor as a professorial chair in International Law and Diplomacy of the institution; as Lady Chief Barr. Mrs Josephine Mike Ozekhome will bag a honorary degree in International Law & Diplomacy. This makes the ceremony thick and unique.” He added that “Chief Ozekhome’s nomination for professorial chair by the institution is in recognition of his outstanding leadership role in Africa as one of most renowned constitutional lawyers, human rights activists and pro-democracy crusaders in Africa today.”

 

Other reputable Nigerian businessmen and professionals that will be honored at the summit include: Arc. Mobolaji Adeniyi, President of Nigerian Institute of Architect, who will receive an honorary doctorate degree in Business Administration. Dr. Mrs Aisha Sulaiman Achiumugu, GMD/CEO of Felak Group, who will receive an honorary doctorate degree in Business Administration.

While Chief Anthony Chukwuemeka Onyeakusi, a renowned industrialist and CEO of Tony Peters Industries plc, who will receive an honorary doctorate degree in Business Administration and Ms Omoh Aisenokhai of National Library of Nigeria, who will receive an honorary doctorate degree in Information Management.

 

On the other hands, Dame Winifred Akpani, Managing Director/CEO of Northwest Petroleum and Gas/Chairman of Depot and Petroleum Products Marketers Association of Nigeria (DAPPMAN), will receive an honorary doctorate degree in Business Administration and Alhaji Saidu Abdullahi (Danmasanin kontagora), Accountant General of Niger State, will receive an honorary doctorate degree in Accounting and Finance.

 

 

Others are; Barr. Omobonike Moriam Agunbiade, CEO of Silversands Hall School, Lekki, Lagos, who will receive an honorary doctorate degree in International Law & Diplomacy, Brigadier Gen. Bashir Adewinmbi (rtd), Osun State Corps Commander of Amotekun, who will receive an honorary doctorate degree in Security and Strategic Studies.

Mr. Oluyemi Owolabi, Managing Director/ CEO of Expidale Logistics, will receive an honorary doctorate degree in Business Administration and Atu Christopher Iyennoman, Chairman/CEO of Freightliner Logistics Services Limited, will also receive an honorary doctorate degree in Business Administration.

 

Prince Nurudeen Segun Adegboye, Managing Director/CEO of Trust pile Builders Limited, will receive an honorary degree in Facility Management and Peace Osayuwamen Saleh, Creative Lead/CEO of Parallax Consulting Limited, will receive an honorary doctorate degree in Creative Arts.

 

Alhaji Abdullahi Yakubu, a renowned philanthropist and CEO of Maiyamco Investment Nig. Ltd, Kano, will receive an honorary doctorate degree in Business Administration and Mazi Sonny Allison, Chairman/CEO of GMC Logistics Ltd, who will receive an honorary doctorate degree in Business Administration.

 

Arc. Yakubu Yunusa, CEO of Lubell Nigeria Ltd, who will receive an honorary doctorate degree in Architecture and Carol Ebun, Managing Director/CEO of FEMEB Nigeria Ltd, who will receive an honorary doctorate degree in Engineering among others.
