NUT commiserates with KDSG over kidnap of Kuriga students, teachers

The Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT,) Kaduna State Wing, has expressed sympathy over the kidnap of 187 pupils of LGEA, Kuriga I, 100 students from GSS Kuriga alongside their Principal, Malam Abubakar Isah, which occurred on 7th March 2024.
This was contained in a statement signed by the State Chairman, Comrade Ibrahim Dalhatu and made available to the media in Kaduna yesterday,
The NUT Chairman appreciated the concern shown by the Governor, who visited the affected school to ascertain the state of things and to also commiserate with the people of Kuriga.
While appealing to the government at all levels to intensify efforts to ensure the release of the victims, the State Chairman said that more effort should be made to secure the schools especially those in the rural areas.
“For the parents who lost their children during the attack, we pray for God’s comfort and the fortitude to bear the loss. While we appeal to the rest of the parents whose children/wards are still in the hands of the kidnappers to be patient and prayerful as we await the release of the children through the effort of our security agencies.”
“We want to encourage other teachers not to be frightened by this event as the government has promised to do everything possible to ensure the security of our schools.”
The union also assured the state of their firm resolve to stand in solidarity with the State Government, providing support in areas they can.
“The Union wants to assure its teaming members of its commitment to their welfare and will continue to work with the government to ensure that the lives of our members and students/pupils are protected.”
