Insecurity: Gov. Sani harps on intelligence sharing

Kaduna State Governor Senator Uba Sani has harped on the need for intelligence gathering and sharing among security agencies and other stakeholders to tackle the insecurity bedevilling the state.
He asserted this during a meeting with stakeholders from the seven Local Government Areas affected by recent banditry, kidnapping and other terrorist attacks.
Governor Sani also instructed all Local Government chairmans from the affected LGAs to return to their council Area and stay there, to monitor and assist in tackling the security challenges.
Similarly, he directed Traditional Rulers and the Local Government Chairmans to fish out strange individuals and report them to the security agencies immediately, adding that It would go a long way in enhancing security efforts and also deepen intelligence gathering and sharing of information.
According to him, the government realized that there were a lot of complaints about some disgruntling elements penetrating some communities, which are suspected to be informants.
Governor Sani stressed that the issue of security is pertinent to everyone and believed traditional rulers have massive responsibility in assisting the security Agencies and particularly ensuring that all the strangers that come into the communities are identified.
“ In the last six months here in Kaduna, we have been having meetings deepening our citizen’s engagements, ensuring that we have enough or adequate synergy between States, Local governments, traditional institutions as well as the co-security Heads here in Kaduna.
“The essence of this initiative is to ensure that we support the security agencies in Kaduna with relevant intelligence towards addressing insecurity in our State.”
