Group calls for more commitment for technology innovation in secondary schools

A group known as Odyssey Educational Foundation,OEF has called for more commitment of technology innovation in secondary schools.
The Program directors, OEF, Stella Dennis made this call in an interview with pressmen at future city competition for high school Pitch event theme: “Electrify the future” held in Abuja.
The Non- governmental organisation in collaboration with American Spaces , Abuja has encouraged high schools students on building smart cities in virtual reality.
Dennis explained that there is need to be considering electricity as the base of new smart cities across the nation.
According to her , the program is aimed at encouraging electrifying the future.
“Most of them may not necessarily become architects or engineers or builders or civil engineers, but at least it gives them some of them began when the top learns about electricity is during the research, because as a research part of this program, that’s when they started saying oh, we want to see if we can build electricity and use it even in our own house to generate it.
“So I mean, it’s pouring a lot of invention as far as we are concerned and is going to hold education because even we saw the need to get who goes to an ATM to just get lights to be able to read. So if they are able to generate that kind of lights themselves in their house, then they are sure that their educational, the educational aspect where they need lights to read or likes to make researches will be available.
“So we’re calling on government to please help us ensure that most of these programs that we’re doing that not just 100% educational what that is also helping both technology and also we said I’m also making the brain of the child walk better and effective because they can actually do a lot of vices,” she noted.
Mrs Rasheed’s Abubakar from GSS Tundun Wanda in an interview said that the students has put more efforts in creating a future city that they build on electricity.
She said that might not have problem of power supply because they make the thing with their brain on how to make the city better than what it is now.
Speaking to one is the participant ,Eze Juliet from GSS Kubwa stressed that “with good electricity Nigeria will be a better place and also it will increase the financial income of many business ventures because most of the businesses Nigerian has to do with electricity and Nigeria Electricity is currently reducing by the day. So if there is 100% electricity in the country I believe that Nigeria will be a better place.
