The Modibbo Adama University (MAU) Yola, had matriculated 3,579 undergraduates to study various degree and sub degree courses.
Vice Chancellor, of the University, Professor Abdullahi Tukur, made the announcement at the matriculation ceremony held on Wednesday in Yola, stressing that, the admissions were accorded the needed deligence and due process through UTME examination and Direct Entry procedure squarely on merit.
Professor Tukur explained that, the new students were admitted under the 2023/2024 academic session and were enrolled to study different courses in various departments of the institution for their respective academic sessions.
Tukur categorised that, the Faculty of Life Sciences admitted 675 students, Faculty of Agriculture has 348,Faculty of Education got 241, Faculty of Engineering 345, while Faculty of Environmental Sciences 257 had new students.
He added that,Faculty of Physical Sciences admitted 484 students, Faculty of Social and Management Sciences 495 while the College of Medical Sciences admitted 50.
According to him, a total of 559 distance learning degree students as well as another 125 students for Sandwich programme were also matriculated.
Charging the newly admitted students to exhibit high sense of decorum in the pursuit of their studies,the VC advised them to abide by the rules and regulations guiding the University.
Tukur also urges the students to channel their complaints through the Guidance and Counseling Unit and report any form of harassment.
“We are going to be strong in defending your integrity in case of harassment,” the VC assured.
Our Correspondent reported that, the University has conferred the Governing council award of excellence to 41 undergraduate medical sciences students who scored 5.0 Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA).
