The Chairman Kaduna State Council of Chiefs and the Emir of Zazzau, Malam Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli has urged inmates to consider their stay at the correctional facilities as a blessing to change their lifestyles in society.
Emir Bamalli made the call when he paid a visit to the Medium Correctional Center Zaria where he offered prayers at the graveside of his Great Grandfather, late Emir Abubakar Dan Malam Musa who reigned between 1917 to 1927.
He reminded the inmates that they were detained because of the offences they committed, which were against the laws of the land.
The emir advised them to understand why they were at the correctional facilities, to effect changes in their activities.
While expressing satisfaction with the level of infrastructural development in the correctional centre, Bamalli promised to renovate their mosque and also donated some books for them to learn more about religion.
He also acknowledged the skills acquisition training facilities at the centre where the inmates learn various trades.
Earlier in his remarks, the Assistant Controller, of Correctional Center, Ibrahim Isah Rambo told the emir that presently they have 325 inmates.
Isah Rambo said the support they are receiving from the emir is very encouraging and motivating.
He said inmates are well trained in both academic and skills acquisition training during their stay after they were convicted of various terms.
