NDE trains 50 in Agribusiness in Benue

The National Directorate of Employment,NDE, in Benue State has commenced the training of over 50 youths in agribusiness under the Sustainable Agricultural Development Training Scheme, SADTS.
The scheme it should be noted is domiciled under the Rural Employment Promotion, REP department.
Flagging off the scheme on Monday in Makurdi, the Director-General, NDE Mallam Abubakar Nuhu Fikpo represented by the Benue State Coordinator Mr. Mathew Apochi disclosed that 1,850 participants across the 36 states and Abuja are taking part in the 2024 SADTS, adding that the prospective participants are drawn from local governments and Senatorial districts of the 36 states and FCT.
He explained that the aim of the programs amongst others is to create employment for the rural communities through training on modern innovative agricultural technology(exotic vegetable crops/livestock production skills)along its value chain, improve the livelihood of the rural people, reduce rural-urban migration and expose unemployed youths to the potentials in exotic vegetable crops and livestock production businesses.
Said he, “ you will be empowered in modern agricultural activities including off-farm activities and life skills to be able to overcome the challenges of our immediate environment. This training provides you with the opportunity to acquire knowledge required to set up your businesses. You should therefore justify these efforts by putting in your best to succeed in agripreneurs as NDE attaches very high premium on this initiative due to its multiplier effect for increased jon creation”
Deputy Director Rural Employment Promotion, REP Department Beatrice Oruoyehu, represented by Ms. Ene Martha Idoko stressed that SADTS is in line with Presidential priority areas 1 and 11 of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration Renewed Hope Agenda which is to reform the economy to deliver sustained inclusive growth and boost agriculture to achieve food security.
