The Korean Cultural Centre, Nigeria (KCCN) has thrilled Nigerians with K-POP Hurray concert in Abuja with many K-POP enthusiasts in attendance.
The concert which took place Saturday saw a lot of K-POP singers and dancers practice to the admiration of audience who were full of joy and happiness at the event.
Speaking during the event, Director of Korea Cultural Centre, Nigeria, Mr. Kim Chang Ki said it was the first of its kind in Abuja due to the love of K-POP in Abuja but had held many times in Lagos.
Mr. Kim informed that there would be many Korean events in Abuja within the year with the aim of promoting cultural exchange.
Also speaking, Cultural, Events & Communications Officer of KCCN, Jennifer Ezeonyeasi said K-POP Hurray Concert was a performance-based event featuring the K-POP community in Nigeria which include: K-POP enthusiasts, past K-POP competition winners, the finalist vocal students, and top academy performers.
She noted the concert showcases K-POP dance and music which covers various K-POP artist aiming to preserve and strengthen the community through networking and engagement.
Continuing, she said the event was organised for K=POP community with aim of gathering the past winners of various events over the years to create a kind of bonding and networking amongst them with the aim of building an active K-POP Community.
She said that K-POP was a classic Korean Music style that promotes group performance and bonding which many Nigerians were falling in love with.
A K-POP dancer and enthusiast, Isaac Ulaka Ajiga (isaacjiga) who said it was an honor to participate and delve into a topic that has captured hearts and minds around the world—K-POP culture and its global influence said that K-POP, the vibrant and multifaceted phenomenon, has transcended borders, languages, and generations to become a global sensation.
“K-POP is more than just a music genre; it’s a cultural movement that embodies creativity, passion, and diversity. Rooted in South Korea’s rich history and modern dynamism, K-POP has been able to seamlessly blend traditional elements with contemporary trends, creating a unique sound and style that resonates with audiences far and wide.
“What makes K-POP so compelling is its ability to connect with people on a personal level. Its artists—through their captivating performances, striking visuals, and heartfelt lyrics—invite us into their world, touching our lives with their authenticity and talent. This connection has fostered a sense of community among fans, known as the “K-POP fandom,” who are united by their love for the music and the shared experiences it brings.
“The global impact of K-POP extends beyond entertainment. It has played a significant role in promoting South Korea’s image on the world stage, showcasing its culture, fashion, and language. Through K-POP, people around the globe have discovered and embraced Korean culture in its entirety—from its cuisine and drama to its history and values.
“Moreover, K-POP’s influence has opened doors for cultural exchange and collaboration. Artists from different countries and genres are now working together, pushing creative boundaries and fostering mutual respect and understanding.
“As we celebrate the rise of K-pop, let us remember its roots and the hard work of countless artists, producers, and industry professionals who have made this movement possible. Let us also recognize the impact of the fans, whose dedication and support have helped shape K-pop into the global force it is today” he noted.
Ajiga said that K-POP’s global influence was a testament to the power of music and culture to bring people together, transcend differences, and inspire change.
“As we look to the future, may K-POP continue to thrive and bridge gaps between cultures, enriching our world with its boundless energy and creativity” he concluded.
