100 Chikun LGA farmers benefit from Kaduna FADAMA N-CARES intervention

At least, 100 farmers from the Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State have benefited from the Kaduna Fadama Covid-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus (CARES.)
The beneficiaries were presented with fertilizer NPK and urea, Agro-Chemicals, and improved maize seeds, at the Secretariat of Chikun LGA Kujama.
The program is an emergency intervention program, and its Program for Results (PforR,) aims to support poor and vulnerable farmers across the 23 LGAs in the State who are affected by the COVID-19 pandemic with agricultural inputs, Agricultural Assets, and processing Assets.
Speaking on the rationale behind the gesture, Abbas Dangaji, the technical manager of the Project said, it was a deliberate plan by the Gov Uba Sani administration to assist farmers whose means of livelihood were affected by the coronavirus pandemic.
While urging the beneficiaries to ensure they utilize the farm inputs, Abbas added that FADAMA N-CARES under the watch of Gov.Sani will continue to assist farmers to boost food production.
The Council secretary of Chikun Chiefdom, Musa Makama, who represented Esu Chikun said the gesture marks a new dawn for farmers in Chikun LGA as they are glad and very happy.
Makama who is also a beneficiary expressed his gratitude to the Governor of the state, Senator Uba Sani for his efforts to cushion the effect of farming by bringing the items to farmers free of charge.
“In Chikun local government, we are predominantly farmers, and knowing the situation we are in now, fertilizer is very cost, so for making this provision for us, we are grateful.”
