NEMA hands over 42,000 metric tonnes of assorted commodities to Zamfara

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) on Monday handed over and flagged off distribution of 42,000 metric tonnes of assorted commodities in Zamfara State aimed at cushioning hardship being faced by the vulnerable people in the state.
The assorted food commodities according to the Director General, Zubaida Umar being represented by the Zonal Coordinator in charge of Northwest, Dr. Ishaya Isa Chinoko, said the assorted commodities include; Maize, Millet, Sorghum and Garri.
While flagging off the distribution in Gusau, Zamfara State capital, Dr. Chinoko, informed that, President Ahmed Bola Tinubu had approved the release of 42,000MT of assorted food commodities from the National which is he emphasized is in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda to alleviate the current economic hardship in the country.
“After sharing the commoditjes and successfully transporting the quantities allocated to Zamfara State, today we are here to hand-over the food items to the State Government for distribution to the identified deserving beneficiaries in the communities through the constituted Committees in each LGA.
“Please note that membership, of the Committee in each LGA is made up of the Chairman of the LGA, State Emergency Management Agency, a Traditional Ruler, Department of. State Services, Nigeria Police Force, Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, Falth-Based Organizations (JNI & CAN).
“Other members of the committee shall include, Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees, Nigerian Red Cross Society, women associations, persons with Disability Groups, Youth Associations, Principals of Boarding Schools, Civil Society Organizations and the Media.
it is worthy of note that based on the allocation table, Zamfara State has been allocated 308 MT of maize, (6,160 hägs of 50kg), 602 MT of sorghum (12,040 bags or 50kg), 126 MT of millet (2,520 bag of 50kg)”, Ishaya Chinoko has explained.

Receiving the assorted commodities, Governor Dauda Lawal, commended the Federal Government under the leadership of Ahmed Bola Tinubu for the provision of the kind gesture which is meant for alleviating hardship caused by the current economic downturn being faced amongst the teeming citizens of the state.
