Kaduna State Governor Senator Uba Sani has expressed dismay over under-representation of women in leadership positions within higher education, saying it is a challenge that requires immediate and sustained attention.
He asserted this during a Workshop on Gender and Leadership in Higher Education organized by Kaduna State University (KASU) in partnership with York St. John University, United Kingdom held in Kaduna yesterday Gov. Sani added that Kaduna State Recognizes that gender-inclusive language is a powerful tool in reshaping perceptions and breaking down the barriers that hinder women’s progress in leadership roles.
“ As we convene to discuss and develop strategies for promoting gender-inclusive language, let us be mindful of the broader implications of our efforts.
“ Language shapes our reality; it is central to the production of culture and values; it influences our thoughts, our behaviors, and ultimately, our societal norms
“ By championing gender-inclusive language, we are taking a vital step towards creating environments where women can thrive as leaders, free from the constraints of outdated stereotypes and biases.
“Our success in this endeavor hinges on collaboration. It is through the combined efforts of diverse stakeholders that we can make meaningful and lasting change.
“I assure you that our administration led by His Excellency Senator Uba Sani will appreciate it if you advise us on the outcome of this workshop. We are committed to fostering partnerships that advance gender equality and to creating policies that support the representation of women in leadership across all sectors.
“To all the participants, I encourage you to engage deeply in the discussions, share your experiences, and work together to identify practical solutions.”
