Jigawa: ACOMIN calls for more community participation in health

A non governmental organization known as Civil Society in Malaria Control, Immunization and Nutrition (ACOMIN) has called for more community participation and ownership habits on health related issues in Jigawa state.
The call was made by the State Project Officer of ACOMIN Dr Auwal Ibrahim during the state meeting on global fund malaria community-led monitoring projects, held on Friday in Dutse.
He explained that, to support community participation in Jigawa state, ACOMIN embarked on community-led monitoring projects to increased ingenuity, flexibility in tackling challenges by identifying and addressing the root cause of failed interventions; and enhanced accountability.
According to him, the project recorded a tremendous successes this year including provision of Malaria and other commodities by ministry for local government and community development, facilitate in provision of scanning machine at Gada PHC Facilitates of overhead water tank of Nguwa PHC Birniwa local government Facilitates of provision of Solar panel at Nguwa PHC Birniwa local government among many other achievement.
“ To achieve the desired goals, all stakeholders should support the implementation of a combination of measures that include prevention strategies, improved access to diagnostics and treatment, health education and promotion and community partnership.
“Improve funding and resources for primary health care delivery to enable a robust public health program at the community level.
Every LGA should commit to health promotion and education programs to increase awareness of prevention measures; and promote community participation and adherence to evidence-based strategies”, SPO said.
