Following the impeachment notice served governor Murtala Nyako of Adamawa State by the State House of Assembly, over financial misconduct one of the construction firm (hydro source and resources
limited) which was indicted by the lawmakers and accused of collecting the sum of three hundred million naira without executing the project have demanded for retraction and apology from the state Assembly within one week or face legal action.
This development was made known at a press conference held in Yola Adamawa State Capital Yesterday, by the company lawyer Barrister Sunday Joshua Wugira, of M.A. Bello & Co. Legal Firm denying collecting the sum of three hundred million from the state government in the execution of the Mubi bypass road as stated by the state House of Assembly in the impeachment notice served to Governor Murtla Nyako by the lawmakers.
According to the legal practitioner, they have already served the speaker with their petition letter giving the state House of Assembly an ultimatum of one week to retract the said publication concerning them as contained in paragraph 6 of the impeachment notice and tender written and public apology to his client within one week failure of which will leave them with no option than to commence legal action against the state Assembly.
“Our client hydro source and resources limited has acquired for itself goodwill over the years through a dint of hard work, good corporate practice, diligent execution of projects, timely completion of contract and high standard performance not just in Adamawa but across the federation so, the House decision to dragged the name of our client into the murky water of politics in the state without recourse to facts and due diligence expected of an honorable House.”
“In view of the above sir, we demand a retraction of the name of our client and the used of the word “corrupt siphoning of the sum of N300 million public funds” for no such funds was ever siphoned through our client.
He further explained that the state government that still owes the company over N500 million on projects which have since been completed.
