Uba Sani is recalibrating Kaduna – Aminu Zaria

In this exclusive interview with Alhaji Aminu Zaria, a close associate of Governor Uba Sani, he shares his insights on the efforts the governor has been making to extend the dividends of democracy through affordable education, healthcare, Infrastructure, urban and rural economic empowerment and security strategies to the people of Kaduna State since the past one year.Excerpts:

Sir, as an associate of Kaduna governor, what’s your understanding of Governor Uba Sani’s governance style?

Generally, Governor Uba Sani’s governance style is a breath of fresh air. He has brought a sense of urgency and purpose to the state’s development.

How does his approach differ from previous administrations?

He’s more inclusive, more participatory, and more focused on the rural people. I think his rural renewal strategy is unique in today’s Nigeria. I see, the essence of his history of struggle for civil rights and democracy now at play. He’s proved to be masses-friendly and progressively a democrat to the core.

What are the key areas where you’ve seen significant progress?

Not just me, any keen observer would see security, economy, education, and healthcare. He’s making a tangible impact.

How do you think he’s handling the security challenges?

Even though this is a general challenge for the Northeast and the Northwest, especially, the case of Kaduna is quite encouraging, and it all boils down to strategic thinking, which is the hallmark of the administration. He’s taking a holistic approach, working with security agencies, and investing in community policing.

Religious sentiments have in recent years been challenging for Kaduna. How is the governor dealing with it today?

Gov Uba Sani has united Muslims and Christians, fostering a peaceful and cohesive society. His efforts have significantly reduced religious conflicts, promoting understanding and harmony. That’s all I can say, in simple words.

And what progress has been made in resolving the Northern and Southern Kaduna crisis?

The crisis has dissipated, and the three zones: one, two, and three are now united. Gov Uba Sani’s leadership has brought people together, promoting love, brotherhood, and dialogue.

How has Gov Uba Sani’s administration impacted education in Kaduna?

Education is now accessible and affordable for all. Discrimination has ended, and children from poor homes have equal access to quality education. Reduced tuition fees have increased enrollment and produced a more educated population.

What impact has the administration had on rural development?

Rural communities are empowered and connected. Road networks have improved communication, trade, and economic opportunities. Rural folk now access markets, healthcare, and essential services easily.

Let’s go back a little on rural areas. How has Gov Uba Sani’s supported poor rural folks?

Poor rural folks now have bank accounts and have the golden opportunity of accessing government’s financial support at both federal and State levels, for their small-scale businesses. This addresses their long-standing complaints about government neglect, providing access to credit facilities, training, and markets to improve their livelihoods.

Lastly Sir, what would you like to tell the people of Kaduna State at this point in time?

Well, mine is to advise them to give the administration maximum cooperation and pray fervently for the governor to sustain the tempo of his development strides. I urge them not to relent in their unwavering support.
