Stakeholders at the National Youth Stakeholders Engagement Forum has called for strategic initiative to address the multifaceted challenges facing Nigerian youth while exploring opportunities for their empowerment and engagement.
This was passed by different speakers at the youth engagement forum in Ilorin, Kwara State last week.
Speaking at the event which brought together youth leaders, expert facilitators, resource persons, policy makers, and other stakeholders, Kwara State Governor, Abdulrazaq Abdulrahman represented by his Commissioner for Youth Development, Hon. Shehu Ndanusa Usman noted that Kwara State gives great attention to Youth Development stating that some of the Youth Empowerment initiatives which include Youth in Agriculture, ICT, Soft Loans for young entrepreneurs as well as other programmes were geared towards self-reliance of Kwara Youth.
Also speaking, Minister of Youth Development, Dr. Jamila Bio Ibrahim represented by Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr. Olubunmi Olusanya said the forum was geared towards achieving the (Renewed Hope) Agenda of President Bola Tinubu by engaging Nigerian Youth in all facets of National Development.
The Director General of the National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies, Prof. I.O Mutayo represented by Dr. Garba Malumfashi, a Senior Fellow at the Institute commended the Government of Kwara State for supporting the Forum.
The Youth Stakeholders Engagement Forum had a breakout session where, participants engaged in discussion around four Thematic Areas in Youth Development (Education and Skills Development; Employment and Entrepreneurship; Health and Wellbeing; Civic Engagement and Participation. Each focal group made a presentation of their findings and recommendation at a plenary session.
The Director-Networks and Social Mobilization, Federal Ministry of Youth Development, Mrs. Amina Dauran assured that the communique developed at the event will be transmitted across to the relevant branch of the Executive for consideration and possible implementation.
