AD Rufai Foundation, CBN train 60 women in different skills in Bauchi

AD, Rufai Foundation, a Non- Government Organization (NGO) base in Bauchi in collaboration with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has trains and equipped 60 women in various skills to enable them

sustained their livelihood. The President of the foundation and wife of the Bauchi state governor,

Hajiya Mariya while presenting equipment and materials to the 20 beneficiaries during the graduation ceremony yesterday said the training skills will go a long in alleviating the women who are

vulnerable in and the lest privilege in the state. Hajiya Mariya Yuguda expressed appreciation to CBN and other partners for their supports towards realizing the project.

She then urged the beneficiaries to make good use of the items giving to them towards empowering themselves. The Coordinator, of the Skill acquisition project of the NGO, Hajiya Halima Maigari stated this during the graduation ceremony of the first 20 women yesterday in Bauchi.

According to her, the women were trained on sewing, shoe and bag making for six weeks.

Maigari also said that similar programs on poultry and fishing in were on going in Misau and Azare Local Governments Areas (LGAs). “The beneficiaries were selected under women groups in the three LGAs we are presently working on economic empowerment. “For the Other trades, the beneficiaries are undergoing three months training on fisheries and poultry farming in Misau and Azare local government’s areas,” she said. In his remark, the Branch controller of CBN, Alhaji Mohammed Ladan represented by a Director in the bank, Alhaji Ibrahim Mas’ud urged beneficiaries to sustain what they have learnt during the training. He said that the bank would support the organization towards economic developments.

Speaking on behalf of beneficiaries, Malama Lami Haruna applauded the initiative of the founder, Hajiya Mariya Yuguda with a promised that more women would learn trades under their various groups.
