As part of effort to promote transparency and accountability in governance, the Connected Development (CODE) with support from McArthur foundation has engaged some stakeholders from various Ministries, Department and Agencies (MDAs) in the Jigawa state on data management, monitoring and evaluation workshop for better governance in Jigawa state.
Speaking at the one-day training, the state project coordinator of CODE, comrade Adam Sulaiman explained that the training will provide more light as well as to deepening and institutionalising accountability, social Inclusion systems, and processes to promote Resilience and sustainability in governance.
He maintained that, the aim of the projects is to promote transparency and accountability in governance by building the capacity of MDAs to effectively deliver impactful services and projects to constituents.
According to him, the project has already made significant progress, with the successful onboarding and training of Community of Practice (CoP) members from six states – Kwara, Anambra, Bayelsa, Jigawa, Yobe, and Osun. These CoP members have been tasked with championing social accountability and promoting the institutionalization of proven systems developed by CODE in Kaduna state.
He said the workshop will equip MDAs with the necessary skills to effectively deliver impactful services and projects to constituents, promote social accountability, and ensure transparency in the implementation of community projects.
“The initiative demonstrates Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening its institutions and promoting good governance.
“By promoting transparency and accountability, #ProjectTrust aims to build trust between citizens and government, and ensure that government services are delivered efficiently and effectively”, he said.
The project coordinator however, solicited more support and cooperation both from government and citizens for better development of the state.
