No fewer than 35,000 delegates are expected to participate in the 2024 Abuja National Convention of the Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship International-Nigeria (FGBMFI-NG) holding across 22 centres in the country.
Our correspondent reports that this year’s convention, with the theme:“I Come Quickly with My Reward”, will take place from Thursday, September 5 to Saturday, September 7, 2024, at the Velodrome of the MKO Abiola National Stadium, in Abuja, would be streamed live to 21 District Convention Centres across Nigeria, which ensures broader participation by its extensive membership, which spans over 3,600 chapters nationwide.
FGBMFI-NG”s National President, Arc Ifeanyi Odedo, at a media briefing yesterday, said the approach addresses the current security challenges and inflationary pressures that have made transportation and movement difficult.
He explained that this year’s convention will address burning spiritual, economic, marital and health issues relevant to Nigeria’s current circumstances.
He added that this year’s convention will feature inspiring life-changing testimonies, rallies, seminars, teachings, and practical workshops, alongside business round table, investment and career development sessions led by esteemed sector drivers.
“We gather to ignite a significant spiritual revival, in line with the vision given to our apostolic founder, the late Demos Shakarian. Despite our widespread chapters, we unite to create a powerful impact, which will in turn spread to our respective communities.
“As President, I will lead these efforts alongside Rev. Sunday Awe of Christ’s Proclaimers Gospel Mission, Apostle Michael Orokpo, PhD of Encounter Jesus Ministry International, and Dr. Ferdinand Nweke, Coordinator of Eternity Ministries International. Our speakers also include Dr. (Mrs) Ibukun Awosika, former Chairman of First Bank of Nigeria; top legal experts like Sony Wogu SAN and Barr Isaac Okpanachi, a National Vice President of the Fellowship.
“As a body of business men and professionals we are concerned over the impact of the endemic corruption in our society both in the marketplace and public service. Nigeria is a nation endowed with huge material and human resources but whose growth and development has been severely impaired by the canker worm of corruption.
“We therefore, appeal to all leaders and the entire citizenry across board to have a change of heart and to hit the reset button in the way we conduct our services, businesses and conduct our public affairs.
“We commend President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his recent efforts to re-jig the security apparatus which is essential for a more stable and prosperous society. “The recent appointments of new heads for DSS, NIA and the acting Chief Justice bring a renewed hope in the system
“We pray this ignites fresh commitment to combat insecurity. We therefore urge more proactive actions to mitigate food insecurity, kidnapping, and banditry which hinder economic progress and quality of life.
“We also support President Tinubu’s push for fiscal autonomy for Local Governments. We hope this will revitalize economic activities across Nigeria’s 774 Local Governments. We encourage Nigerians to monitor and protect their local government allocations following the Supreme Court ruling on financial autonomy”, he stated.
